Throne of Thunder LFR Ji-Kun Video Guide

This is a guide for Tanks, Healers, and DPS.  This is the sixth boss in Throne of Thunder and the last boss in the Forgotten Depths LFR.  It consists of the main boss on a platform in the middle of the room and five nests around the room that will spawn birds.

Spread out around the platform - 8 yards apart - to avoid being hit by Caw, which does damage to a player and those around them.  It hurts pretty bad.

There are falling slimes. They are important to intercept because it will give you an increased damage and healing buff and also prevent a green poison pool (Feed Pool) from spawning where they would have landed.  These Feed Pools will spawn because there are simply too many falling slimes for the raid to intercept all of them.  If they become overwhelming around the platform, stand in a Feed Pool for 3 seconds and it will damage you, then disappear.  This is something our group didn’t do too well in this video and people started to stack up, which is why it was such a close kill.

Ji-Kun flings Quills at everyone in the raid which hurts more than any of his other abilities.  Use your healing cooldowns when Ji-Kun uses Quills.

Run to the middle of the platform when Ji-Kun uses Down Draft, which tries to push you off.  If you have any ability to move you forward (like a monk’s Roll, a mage’s Blink, a Paladin’s Speed of Light, etc), use that in order to not fall off the platform.  If you do fall off, don’t worry, you won’t die, it’ll just take you out of the fight for a long time as it pushes you back up onto the platform.

The trickiest part of this fight is the nests below and above the platform.  Before the fight, you’ll need to designate three DPSers and one healer. That group of four will need to jump down on a nest and kill the birds that spawn there ASAP.  The nest that will be spawning birds will have a big pillar of light around it.  After the four designated players kill the birds, they need to pick up the feathers that the birds drop and either fly to another nest with a pillar of light or return to Ji-Kun’s platform if no other nest is spawning birds.  To fly with the feather, click your extra action button.

One last thing, tanks will need to tank-swap the boss when the current tank gets two stacks of Talon Rake.
